FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What ages will participate?

The Summer Experience is designed for girls ages 11–18.

Is prior technology or VR experience required?

No prior experience is required. Girls of all experience levels are welcome. The program is designed to introduce participants to creative technology, storytelling, media, AI, and innovation in a supportive environment.

What kinds of activities will girls participate in?

Participants will engage in activities centered around:

• podcasting & storytelling

• leadership development

• creative technology & AI exploration

• wellness & confidence-building

• collaborative projects

• mentorship

• cultural and community experiences

• showcase preparation

Will there be field trips or off-site activities?

Yes. The program will include select field trips and community-based experiences. Families will receive advance communication regarding all off-site activities and transportation arrangements.

Is transportation provided?

Transportation is not provided for daily drop-off and pickup. However, transportation will be provided for approved off-site activities and field trips during the program.

Is this program educational or recreational?

Both. The FLY Girl Summer Experience blends enrichment, leadership development, creativity, technology, and community-building into a hands-on summer learning experience.

Will meals or snacks be provided?

Yes. Meals and snacks will be provided during the program.

Is the program safe and supervised?

Yes. The safety and well-being of participants is a top priority. All activities are supervised by program staff, facilitators, and approved volunteers.

Will there be an overnight experience?

Yes. The Summer Experience will include an overnight camp component as part of the overall program experience. Additional details and logistics will be shared directly with registered families.

Will there be an end-of-program showcase?

Yes. Families and community supporters will be invited to attend a culminating showcase celebrating the girls’ projects, experiences, and growth throughout the program.

Why was this program created?

The FLY Girl Summer Experience was created to provide girls with a culturally grounded space to build confidence, creativity, leadership skills, sisterhood, and exposure to future-forward opportunities in technology, storytelling, media, and innovation.

Will aftercare be provided?

Yes. Optional aftercare will be available from 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM for families needing extended-day support.

Aftercare includes:

• supervised activities

• creative enrichment

• games/community time

• quiet work/reflection time

Aftercare Rate:

• $60/week per participant

Please note: Aftercare is a separate add-on service and is not included as part of any scholarship award.

Is before care available?

Before care is not currently offered during this pilot session. However, families may indicate interest for future programming opportunities.
